Job Advert Role Description
Based in the historic city of York, Stockton Hall Hospital is looking for a Chef for our 112 bedded Forensic medium secure psychiatric hospital, which cares for both mental illness and learning disability patients, which includes an Autistic Spectrum Disorder service and a female service.
Our Chef’s role involves:
- Assisting in providing a high standard of catering and hospitality to patients, staff and visitors
- Supervise junior staff
Main Duties:
- Prepare and cook meals for patients, staff and visitors.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and policies.
- To assist when necessary other designations within the department.
Shift Pattern: 5 days over 7 days working every 4th weekend – shift times are 6.30am – 2.30pm or 10.30am – 6.30pm weekdays. 6.30am – 6.30pm weekends. 3 consecutive days off when working weekend.
Skills and Experience:
- Ability to work as part of a team and have a flexible approach are essential
- Previous experience preferred but not essential, preferably within a similar environment
- Good organisational skills are essential
- Verbal communication skills
- Social skills
- To comply with individual responsibilities under the Health & Safety Act
- A good knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety and COSHH

- Relevant NVQ Level 1 & 2

If you are successful, you will be expected to complete a full two weeks induction upon starting with us at Priory and these occur on the first two weeks of every month. If you have to work a notice with your current employer, we recommend you do not hand your notice in until we are able to provide a start date to ensure a smooth transition between companies.
