Job Advert Role Description

Based in the historic city of York, Stockton Hall Hospital is looking for a Kitchen Porter for our 112 bedded Forensic medium secure psychiatric hospital, which cares for both mental illness and learning disability patients, which includes an Autistic Spectrum Disorder service and a female service.

Stockton Hall Hospital has a reputation for providing high standards of care and treatment to all patients. 

The role:
• Washing up, cleaning kitchen equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensure that all catering stock and equipment is correctly stored and accounted for upon delivery.
• Deliver meals and other catering supplies to various areas within the unit in a timely and efficient manner.
• Adherence to all food safety policies and procedures.

The role holder will be working within a busy kitchen environment using a variety of equipment where many routine tasks are repetitive and require a degree of sustained physical effort and concentration.

Skills and experience:
• Previous experience in a similar environment preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment essential.
• The job holder requires basic numeracy and literacy together with an appreciation of basic food hygiene.
• Self-motivating and ability to work under own initiative.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn are more important than experience.

Shift Pattern:
5 days over 7 days working every 4th weekend
Weekday shift times are 6.30am – 2.30pm and 10.30am – 6.30pm 
Week 1, 2 and 3 is working 5 weekdays.
Week 4 is 12 hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday with 3 consecutive days off that week.

If you are successful, you will be expected to complete a full two weeks induction upon starting with us at Priory and these occur on the first two weeks of every month. If you have to work a notice with your current employer, we recommend you do not hand your notice in until we are able to provide a start date to ensure a smooth transition between companies.
