Enabling our patients with mental health illness to receive a truly integrated and holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity, thanks to the knowledge and expertise of our multidisciplinary clinical teams.

We are looking for a Specialty Grade Doctor for our adult inpatient acute unit at the Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital. Salary- £80,000- NO ON CALL

Priory Group is the UK’S leading independent provider of mental health care and education services.  We have an outstanding reputation both for the service we deliver and for the investment we make in our people and in our environment.

Our acute mental health units for adult male and female patients offer a 24-hour admission service to support local NHS services and PICU wards. The ethos of the acute wards is to provide support in a crisis and offer therapeutic engagement during the in-patient stay. Our specialist inpatient acute teams are committed to providing the highest quality of care, supporting patients with a wide range of mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia, personality disorder, depression, bipolar disorder and other diagnoses, in safe and highly therapeutic environments.

Specialty Doctors at Cheadle Royal will join a large team of substantive medical staff, each ward is led by a Consultant Psychiatrist supported by their Specialty Doctor and other members of the Multi Disciplinary Team.  We provide an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical knowledge and practice working alongside experienced Consultants and clinicians within the team, offering a wide variety of clinical practice not usually available within the NHS.  We offer a solid commitment to your CPD and have an excellent track record in supporting Specialty Doctors to achieve success in professional examinations and to move on to higher specialist training.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with the consultant and MDT, but be also able to work independently.

As of February 2023, out of hours cover for the site is provided by NES Healthcare and, as such, working hours are 37.5 hours per week, which conventionally runs from 9am to 5pm. No on call required needed at the current time.

Due to the specialist nature of these services, the Specialty Doctor has a key role in providing evidence-based assessment and treatment under direct supervision and support from the consultant. We have a national reputation for offering treatment for complex and challenging presentations in all our service users. You will also report to the supervising consultant and is expected to have formal supervision at a frequency compatible with Priory policy, and to be a member of a peer group within Priory.
