An exciting and rare opportunity has become available for a Chef to assist with the provision of an excellent catering service within Ayr Clinic, with particular emphasis on the planning, preparation, cooking and serving of meals, ensuring all activities and operations comply with operational standards and statutory regulations.

About the Role

You will report to the Head Chef where you will be part of our wider team of Chef’s and Catering Assistants to ensure patients, staff and visitors are offered tasty and nutritious meals which are prepared to a high standard. You will have excellent communication skills, basic IT skills and be flexible and adaptable in your role.  We’ll expect you to listen, be kind and do everything in your power to help us hit the highest standards.

You will be supported by an experienced management team and together with your Catering Team you will ensure that the healthcare team are supported to deliver high quality care
As a Chef you will be you will be an integral part of the Catering Team, you should have experience within a kitchen environment. You will have the applicable knowledge, skills, training and experience listed below and the attached job Description:

Undertake the planning, preparation and cooking of meals, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
Ensuring operational standards comply with the company’s Food Safety policies and guidelines and statutory regulations.
Takes full shift responsibility for the catering operation (in the absence of the Head Chef).
Ensure the cost-effective and efficient control of stock including placing orders for food products and the checking/reconciliation of deliveries. 
Monitors and adapts food production ensuring that there is a minimum amount of wasted food.
Your quality of work meets the required operational standards and the company’s Food Safety policies and guidelines
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Experience producing meals for large groups on time and to budget

Knowledge, Qualifications & Training

Numerate, literate and qualified to NVQ2 or equivalent & basic qualification in food hygiene.
Knowledge of specialised diets may be required (Dysphagia, Allergens, etc) (Specialist dietary training will be provided)
Knowledge of Health & Safety (training provided e.g. Introduction to H & S, Fire Safety)
Knowledge of C.O.S.H.H. Lifting and Handling, Infection Control practices, Food Safety Regulations, Appropriate Quality Standards, Continuous improvement, and awareness of HR policies and procedures
