* The Opportunity *

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our permanent team in our Male PICU service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality psychiatric care within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping patient care and contributing to the ongoing success of our services.

* Role Responsibilities *

  • Roles within this job family are dedicated to providing high quality clinical care for patients referred to and using the services of the hospital. Works closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that clients receive a holistic and person-centric care and treatment programme based on the recovery model. 
  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk 
  • reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu. 
  • Provide expert psychiatric assessments and treatment for a diverse patient population.
  •  Lead and manage patient care within your specialty, ensuring the highest standards of care.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, therapists, and nursing staff.
  • Engage in clinical governance and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, ensuring continuous high-quality care.
  • Foster relationships with external stakeholders and maintain a network of professional contacts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and meet Revalidation requirements.

​* Candidate Profile *

  • Full GMC registration with specialist registration in psychiatry.
  • Extensive experience in Forensic psychiatry.
  • Strong knowledge of Clinical Governance and adherence to regulatory frameworks.
  • Successful completion of an enhanced DBS check, provided by Suttons Manor.
  • The post holder will hold a CCST / CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of Psychiatry and will have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties. 
  • Autonomy & Impact 
  • Can work autonomously to agreed short and medium term objectives where professional advice will be immediately obvious. Able to understand the impact their actions will have on the care of the patient and the workings of the multidisciplinary team. 
  • Intelligent Problem Solving The majority of problem solving is based upon acquiring systemic knowledge and experience where some adaptive and creative thinking is occasionally required when translating best practice and evidence based research into practical operational solutions for application within the department.
