Job Advert Role Description
Priory Adult Care have an opportunity for an experienced, forward thinking Chef to join us on weekends at Orchid Lawns in Steppingley, Bedfordshire.
This role is to work weekends - shifts are 7.00am – 14.30pm
Orchid Lawns is a 24 bedded care home designed for older people with dementia. The home provides a specialist dementia nursing service, working in partnership with Central Bedfordshire PCT and Local Authorities. Situated in Steppingley, Bedfordshire the home offers a supportive environment with en-suite bedrooms and comfortable lounge areas. Our dedicated team ensure we meet the resident’s individual care and social needs.
As a Chef it will be your responsibility to plan, prepare and present high quality food and hospitality for our residents. Working to the highest of standards, ensuring dietary requirements of all the residents are met. You will:
- Assist the Home Manager with menu creation, ensuring a nutritious, varied menu is available
- Ensure all food preparation meets the requirements of COSHH, Food safety and health & safety regulations
- Manage food budgets and stocks, checking deliveries as required and placing them in the appropriate storage areas.
- Ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in all areas of the kitchen
- Overall kitchen staff management, training, recruiting and rotas.
- The hours will be worked between Monday to Saturday on a rota basis with other team members.
We are looking for a confident individual with a creative flare, someone who has relevant experience in a similar sized kitchen and qualifications in food hygiene, prep and cookery.
