Priory North London is recruiting for a skilled addictions therapist or counsellor to join our small and dedicated team. In supporting us to deliver our 28-day programme, you will need to be able to facilitate process-oriented and supportive groups as well as uphold the programme boundaries that faciliate successful recovery. 

In addition to group work, you will need to be able to support patients moving through the 12 steps of recovery and therefore a thorough knowledge of each step is required. You will facilitate pre-admission assessments, inpatient assessments, various groups, 12 step assignments as well as 1:1 therapy with both inpatients and patients who wish to be seen on an outpatient or aftercare basis. You will work closely with a multi-discplinary team made up of mental health nurses, a ward doctor, a number of consultant psychiatrists, and therapists, participating in ward rounds and contributing to weekly care planning.

You will be proactive and work both in synergy with the team as well as manage your case load independently. 

It is desirable that you have some experience of working with the families and carers of individuals who struggle with addiction. Your approach will include trauma-informed care. It is essential that you understand safeguarding responsibilities and take a proactive approach to all safeguarding matters.  

Reporting the team lead, the successful individual will have completed their qualification and be a registered member of the BACP or NCPS. Whilst we are happy to accept candidates working toward their accreditation, we expect applicants to be able to submit their accreditation documents within 6 months of starting their employment with us.

Appropriate qualification, completed
Registration with the NCPS or BACP

Desirable: 
Accredited therapist
