Bristol Hospital (Stapleton, M32):
Our Grade II listed hospital building is set in extensive grounds, just off the M32 and less than three miles from the centre of Bristol, with free on-site parking. We offer 86 beds spread over eight wards, providing a wide range of services, including Psychiatric Intensive Care (PICU), eating disorders, acute care, rehab, and recovery. Our collaborative environment fosters opportunities to gain experience in various services.
You will also have the opportunity to hold clinics at our satellite clinic – Bristol Park Clinic
Bristol Priory Wellbeing Centre (Aztec West Business Park):
Our outpatient clinic is strategically located for easy accessibility, with excellent connections to the M4 and M5 motorways. We offer comprehensive services, including 1:1 therapy, group therapy, and Psychiatry appointments. Free on-site parking is available for both staff and visitors.
Opportunity:
We invite an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team. This role is integral to maintaining our high standards of care and providing expert guidance to our dedicated staff.
The role of a Visiting Consultant is an exciting opportunity, offering the chance to build and manage a private outpatient practice while also contributing to our inpatient services. Bristol Priory Hospital will provide administrative support to VCs to arrange timely and effective clinics. VC’s do not need to generate referrals as these come from a central point. Priory support VCs with marketing and there are opportunities to be involved in Media promotion.
This VC post will also have practising privileges to admit to our 9 bed private ward which has access to separate daily therapy programme for addictions and general psychiatry. On the private ward, there are weekly MDT ward rounds and a separate weekly review which the VC would be expected to attend. There are other VCs currently admitting to the private ward which is also supported by Specialty Doctors.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess and treat a diverse outpatient population.
- Oversee the care of inpatients within your specialty.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of therapists and psychologists.
- Engage in quality improvement and governance activities.
- Expand your practice in alignment with Bristol Priory’s prestigious reputation.

Candidate Profile:
- GMC registration with relevant specialist registration.
- Experience in psychiatry and substance misuse.
- A strong understanding of Clinical Governance and regulatory frameworks.
- Successful completion of a DBS check, funded by Bristol Priory.
