Job Advert Role Description

Stockton Hall Hospital is a medium secure 112 bedded unit spanning over 7 wards, caring for people with mental illness, personality disorders and learning disabilities
Our services have produced excellent recovery results for those who stay with us and they are able to progress to low secure or locked rehabilitation if possible. We run a therapeutic programme to help patients to develop coping strategies, increase skills and resilience and enable patients to access the community to maximise their recovery potential.

We are able to support people with:

Complex mental health needs
Behaviours that challenge
Severe and enduring mental health needs
A learning disability
Personality disorders
Autism
Psychosis
Sexual offending behaviour
Substance misuse or forensic addictions

As a core member of the site administration team of Medical Secretaries; you will provide efficient, professional and effective secretarial and administrative support to site and specifically to the full Medical team.

Provide efficient and effective administrative support to the hospital and particularly the medical team. This will regularly include typing, minute taking, receiving telephone enquiries, diary and appointment management, managing correspondence, meeting and greeting visitors and other administrative tasks as appropriate. You will also be required to liaise with other Priory Healthcare sites and departments, Insurers, GPs and Commissioners regarding specific patient details and invoicing.

 

Essential

• Organising the daily patient list and drawing the relevant files

• Ordering office supplies and overseeing the maintenance of office equipment

• Organising meetings and taking minutes

• Responding to queries from patients

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records

• Managing the travel arrangements in an office

• Sending samples for medical testing, recording the results and updating patients

• Typing letters, clinical reports and transcriptions and updating databases and spreadsheets

• Maintaining total confidentiality of personal and financial data

 

• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to put the needs of patients first

• Knowledge of medical terminology to accurately type out medical reports and other documents

• Computer literacy, including a working knowledge of relevant programs, such as Word and Excel

• The ability to function well in a team to provide effective administrative support

• Excellent organisational skills to ensure that an office runs smoothly

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and deal with the public in a sensitive way

• Good spelling and grammar for typing clinical and administrative letters and other correspondence

Desirable 

Knowledge of health-related policies, such as incident reporting and confidentiality, will be advantageous.

If you are successful, you will be expected to complete a full two weeks induction upon starting with us at Priory and these occur on the first two weeks of every month. If you have to work a notice with your current employer, we recommend you do not hand your notice in until we are able to provide a start date to ensure a smooth transition between companies.
