Job Advert Role Description

As a support worker you must be committed to working in a person centred way that promotes independence.
You will be required to be flexible within your working pattern due to the support, these may consist of 8 - 9 hour shift patterns depending on activities .
You will be expected to provide support in a way that reflects the wishes and needs of the individual you are supporting, and is consistent with their individual support plans.
You will support the individual to maintain a home of their own and to lead fulfilled lives as valued and contributing members of their community.
You will be expected to comply with all regulation as defined in policies, in supervisions and in training sessions.
You will also be expected to attend supervisions, team meetings and training and ensure that you provide good communication to your manager and colleagues.
You should have initiative and motivation to work alone, as well as part of an team.
You must be able to relate to people; be a good listener and communicator.
It is not necessary to have experience of working with people with mental health although this would be an advantage. 
However, you must demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by people with mental health and an enthusiasm for working and supporting them to take control of their lives.
A good basic level of education is desired.
