About us:
Priory Hospital Solihull is a mental health hospital in beautiful grounds in the picturesque village of Meriden. Situated on the outskirts of Solihull and Coventry, we provide Rehabilitation & Recovery services to 31 inpatients over three wards:

  • Arley Ward - 10 bedded female R&R service (HDU/Complex Care)
  • Elkin Ward - 10 bedded male R&R service (HDU/Complex Care)
  • Millison Ward - 11 bedded male R&R service (Community Facing)

Patients have a primary diagnosis of a Serious Mental Illness, with additional complexities such as physical health conditions, substance misuse, and secondary mental health issues.

Priory Hospital Solihull benefits from a stable and established team which includes Housekeepers, Catering Team, Administrators, Maintenance Assistants, the Medical team, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nurses, HCAs and Ward Managers. The successful candidate will also be supported by an on site Senior Management Team including Head of Facilities. 

The role:
We are seeking a part time Maintenance Assistant to work alongside a full time Maintenance Assistant colleague, taking direction from our on site Head of Facilities for both planned and reactive maintenance of the hospitals internal and external estate. 

  • Maintains a well-decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the site, in line with quality standards, and follows work processes which comply with statutory regulations
  • Ensures that Priory minimum standards are delivered in all site areas in a timely and efficient manner, as part of a team
  • Identifies and reports damage, faults and other related issues to the Head of Facilities (and then actions as agreed) to ensure that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations
  • Carry out General Maintenance tasks
  • Carry out compliance testing (i.e. fire alarms, bed inspections, vehicle checks) as delegated by the Head of Facilities
  • Provides a security service, maintaining the security and integrity of the building as well as the safety of its occupants
  • Undertakes regular internal and external patrols of the unit and its grounds, ensuring that all the windows and doors are closed and locked as appropriate to the time of day
  • Maintains an accurate record of all incidents and suspicious activities 
  • To be aware of and comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act, (encompassing risk assessments, method statements and Permits to Work), associated acts and subordinate regulations to minimise risk
  • Responsible for ensuring that any attempts at works or projects is within the individuals capabilities and should not expose themselves or others to risk
  • Carry out such other duties relating to the work of the department as required by Management

Experience of working in inpatient mental health services or a similar role would be desirable but is not essential. Driving is an essential part of the role and the successful candidate will need to hold a full UK/EEC/EU manual drivers license for over 3 years with less than 6 points.
