The Priory Group provides specialised care and rehabilitation for individuals with complex mental health needs within a secure environment at Ayr Clinic. About the Role: 
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety and Security Lead to oversee and manage the security operations at our 3 Forensic Low Secure Clinics in South & East Ayrshire, Scotland. 
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors while maintaining a therapeutic environment conducive to recovery and rehabilitation.


Key Responsibilities
Safety and Security Management:
o Develop, implement, and regularly update physical, procedural, and relational security policies and procedures.
o Implement and evidence all relevant health and safety policy and compliance for the service.
o Conduct risk assessments, audits, and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.
o Oversee access control systems, surveillance equipment, and alarm systems.
Incident Response:
o Lead and coordinate the response to incidents and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining security and safety.
o Conduct thorough investigations of security breaches and incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with clinical staff to balance safety and security needs with the therapeutic requirements of the clinic.
o Liaise with external agencies, including police, emergency services, and forensic teams, as necessary.
o Maintain open lines of communication with all clinic departments, providing safety and security-related advice and updates.
Training and Development:
Develop and deliver regular security training programs for all clinic staff.
Ensure security staff receive ongoing professional development and training in line with current best practices and legal requirements.

Compliance and Auditing:
o Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards related to security in a healthcare setting.
o Conduct regular security audits and inspections, implementing improvements where necessary.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date evidence records of all safety and security-related activities, incidents, and training.
o Prepare and present regular security reports to the Clinic Manager and other senior management.
Qualifications and Experience:
o Proven experience in a safety and security management role, preferably within a healthcare or forensic setting.
o Strong knowledge of health and safety, security systems, risk management, and incident response protocols.
o Excellent leadership and team management skills.
o Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff.
o Relevant qualifications in health and safety, and security management or a related field.

Desirable:
o Experience working within a forensic or mental health environment.
o Knowledge of Scottish legal and regulatory requirements for security in healthcare settings.
o First Aid certification or similar qualifications.
