Care is provided across three bespoke therapeutic wards, each offering specialist, tailored treatment in the least restrictive environments possible.

Priory Hospital Cardiff are currently looking for a Registered Social Worker to join our team.

Priory Hospital Cardiff provides bespoke treatment packages for a variety of patients with complex mental health needs. The unit provides a modern, homely environment promoting independence, whilst employing an experienced mutli-disciplinary team to oversee and support patient progress.

The unit includes three wards and a variety of facilities, such as three secure gardens, a gym, patient practice kitchens, patient social area, art rooms and dedicated support service areas.  

As a Registered Social Worker you will work alongside colleagues from Psychiatry, Nursing and Occupational Therapy, ensuring consistently high standards of practice, which comply with Code of Professional Practice for Social Care. The successful candidate will receive peer support from the established Social Work team at Llanarth Court Hospital.

As a Registered Social Worker you’ll be responsible for;

  • Identifying the social/non-medical needs for service users and ensuring those needs are met.
  • Completing detailed risk assessments and playing a key role in liaison with families and community networks.
  • A key focus on Safeguarding and MAPPA liaison.
  • Identifying any social issues which a service user may be experiencing and ensure these are addressed within risk assessments and care plans
  • and make sure the patient is supported.
  • Develop links between different agencies within a patient9s local community, for example Care Co-ordinators, families/carers and future possible
  • placements.
  • Take a proactive approach in supporting the ward within the hospital with monitoring any safeguarding concerns, ensuring the safety of patients at
  • all times.
  • Complete investigations into incidents in the hospital and feedback this to the Senior Management Team.
  • Investigate complaints made by patients in the hospital as required by the Complaints and Compliance Administrator.

Knowledge & Skills

A degree in social work, registered with the General Social Care Council, together with detailed knowledge and comprehensive understanding of current legislation.
