Job Advert Role Description

New vacancies: Lead Nurse roles available across Priory

Priory has a number of opportunities for experienced Registered Nurses (RMNs and RNLDs) with exceptional clinical expertise who are looking to take the next step in their career.

Are you looking to progress in your Nursing career by developing your clinical leadership skills rather than leaving the ward and going into management?

This is a newly developed role, unique to Priory, which will give you that chance. We are looking for highly confident and experienced Nurses to be the clinical care and quality leaders within their ward.

Why Priory?

  • We offer a robust career pathway for Registered Nurses, which can include training and progression into clinical specialist roles such as Nurse Prescribers or managerial roles, depending on your goals – we help you to create the career you want
  • This role will give you the bandwidth to focus on patient care and clinical excellence
  • We can offer you training opportunities to support you in developing your skills and expertise

Who are we looking for?

  • Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses (RMN or RNLD) on a relevant part of the NMC register, with specialist training in a relevant clinical skill such as DBT/CBT
  • At least 3 years’ experience working within multidisciplinary teams within relevant clinical settings
  • A clinical leader who is confident working across organisational boundaries, and is experienced in leading  on service development projects
  • An exceptional communicator who tailors your approach according to individual strengths and needs, and is adept at working with colleagues across different disciplines, and seniority and skill levels

What will you be doing?

Each hospital and ward will have specific requirements; however, at all services, Lead Nurses will be integral to upholding a high level of patient care and clinical expertise across the team. You will:

  • Have oversight of the clinical and care needs of all patients, supporting your wider MDT and nurses in working with patients, their families, community teams to meet the individual needs of each person
  • Stay abreast of national guidance and best practice, lead by example and provide guidance, and support in the development and education of your team (e.g. RMNs and HCAs)
  • Focus on proactive clinical risk assessments, nursing assessments, the development of clinical models, quality improvement measures, least restriction interventions and medication management

It is essential that our wards are environments where positive culture flourishes, where each service user is understood and their individual needs are respected and met with care, and where our teams come together and continuously strive for excellence.
