Job Advert Location Description

This role is based out of Cheadle Royal Priory Hospital, Manchester however is a completely remote opportunity. 

Cheadle is a 15 bed acute mental health unit for adult male and female patients offering a 24-hour admission service to support local NHS services and PICU wards. The ethos of the acute ward is to provide support in a crisis and offer therapeutic engagement during the in-patient stay. Evergreen ward is situated within the grounds of Cheadle Royal Hospital supporting patients who present with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, personality disorder, depression, bipolar disorder and other diagnoses. For some patients, Evergreen ward will be their first admission to a mental health ward and the MDT will support them to overcome crisis and become well enough to be discharged into the community, whether this be home or to support living.

Regional Responsibilities

  • Lead the workflow planning and coordination required for the Senior MHA Administrator, MHA Administration staff and others with responsibilities under the Acts to ensure quality and governance processes are completed for the region
  • Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and associated legislation. Analysing and interpreting legal information, offering guidance and advice in a supportive manner, and make judgement as to when and how to escalate to Head of MHA/MCA Operations as required
  • Establish systems and processes to support a network of practice and engaging with the central governance and practice groups. Chairing the MHA Administrators meetings within region
  • Identifying the requirements in region to support and cascade legislation and policy change relating to the MHA and MCA, and identifying implementation plans to support new policies and procedures as required
  • Leading MHA and MCA training programmes for sites and staff, as part of the division’s mandatory training and to respond to any requests or emerging issues or new practice and policy requirements.
  • Motivate, lead and offer development and support to the Senior MHA Administrator and MHA Administrator roles and teams,
  • Lead and coordinate MHA and MCA quality reviews for all sites in region, including action to address MHA or MCA action points following Regulation Inspection reports
  • Escalate and report breaches, areas of concern and poor practice in line with Divisional protocol using Priory systems and produce reports to the Regional Clinical Governance Committee, MHA managers meeting etc. as required. Taking action to resolve and working with the regional teams to mitigate risks and support theme analysis or share lessons
  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of quality improvements projects, reform programmes and audits that are required for the region relating to the MHA and MCA including reporting, evaluating and coordinating actions across teams and services.
  • Offer support to the Managing Director and Head of MHA/MCA Operations for central governance, quality and improvement projects related to the MHA and MCA as required.
