Job Advert Role Description

Priory Group, as the UK leader in specialist psychiatric services, operate throughout the UK caring for people with mental illness, learning disabilities and acquired brain injuries.  

Kemple View is a 90 bedded hospital split across two service lines – secure and rehabilitation and recovery. We cater to the treatment needs of male patients with a mental illness and/or personality disorder. We aim to maximise an individual's opportunity for recovery, to lead a more independent life back in the community wherever possible.

We have six wards including Low Secure and Locked Rehab for male service users only.

The new candidate will work 5 days out of 7 as part of a team within the kitchen and working under a head chef. The kitchen is very busy as they must prepare cold food items for the service users and staff. Also there is delivering of food items around site so the candidate must have a valid UK driving licence as driving across site is an essential part of the job role. 

You will be:

  • Required to support the provision of the catering operation assisting with basic food preparation and hygiene.
  • Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company's Assured Safe Catering policies and procedures. 
  • Under direction, taking responsibility for parts of the catering operation.
  • As part of the catering team, the role holder will be required to ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company's Assured Safe Catering policies and procedures. 
  • The role holder will be expected to partake in Priory's mandatory training. 


You will need:

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • Full UK driving license 
  • An appreciation of basic food hygiene. 
  • Experience in a kitchen environment is desirable 


The role holder works within a busy kitchen environment using a variety of equipment where many routine tasks are repetitive so the successful candidate will be able to keep up with a degree of sustained physical effort and concentration.
