Job Advert Role Description

Priory Hospital Arnold, near Nottingham, provides acute and psychiatric intensive care services to those in need across Nottinghamshire. We work closely with referring Trusts to achieve minimum lengths of stay, and are able to provide an extension to NHS care pathways during times of fluctuating demand.

The service offers a multidisciplinary team approach, working collaboratively to support patients through periods of crisis.

The hospital comprises of 4 wards, 2 Acute wards (16 beds each) and 2 PICU wards (10 beds).

The Role:

This is a unique opportunity for career development in a hospital where extensive medical support is provided to our patients.

You will work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist covering the 16 bed acute service or the 10 bed male PICU ward.

During working hours, you will be responsible for admitting new patients, attending ward reviews and reviewing the mental and physical health of patients throughout admission and at appropriate intervals.

Each patient is reviewed in a weekly multi-disciplinary setting.

You will support the Consultant and MDT with assessment, appropriate investigation, diagnosis and treatment of patients.

General working hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 – 17:00, with a 1 in 6 on call frequency.



Good communication within the MDT is essential.

Full GMC registration.

Relevant experience within a similar setting (preferred)

Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (preferred but not essential and you will receive support with this)

Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007) and Code of Practice along with Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.

The ability to interview, assess and write clear and comprehensive medical notes.

Valid driving licence and access to a private car.

  • Salary up to £85,000 (Depending on Experience)
