Based in the historic city of York, Stockton Hall Hospital is a medium secure 112 bedded unit spanning over 7 wards, caring for people with mental illness, personality disorders and learning disabilities.

OT Advert for Male Mental Illness Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified Occupational Therapist who has experience or a keen interest in working within a medium secure male mental illness service.  You will be part of a robust Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) supporting patients on a clear pathway to community reintegration.

The Occupational Therapy Service at Stockton Hall Hospital is a dynamic forward-thinking recovery focused service which consists of experienced forensic Occupational Therapists as well as a range of other professionals who have a diverse and varied skill set. This includes a designated Recovery Lead, Health and Leisure Instructors and a range of Technical Instructors who focus on various elements of an individual’s occupational recovery and rehabilitation.

Within your role you will be an autonomous practitioner undertaking both standardised and non-standardised functional assessments to identify patient’s strengths and needs to inform care planning, risk assessment and management, and skill development. 

You will be expected to apply the OT process through a structured model of practice (MOHO) and utilise your core-skills to assist patients to progress in their treatment pathway.

The Occupational Therapy service has a strong focus on developing transferable skills including vocational and real work opportunities both within the hospital and community. 

Your role will also involve delivering one to one and group-based interventions, report writing and partaking in service development opportunities. 

Working as an Occupational Therapist you will be receive a thorough induction and preceptorship, regular professional supervision and exciting CPD opportunities.
