We have an exciting opportunity for a Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join the team and support our growing business. Reporting to the Virtualisation Specialist, the Infrastructure Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering IT services to the business and across the group within required SLA’s and policies. This role requires detailed experience in Enterprise Backup solutions and Datacentre operations. A UK based role but to support and maintain existing Veeam backup solution in a German datacentre, located one hour south of Frankfurt.  The initial focus of the role is to ensure a smooth transition from an outsource contract to in-house services ensuring all business critical servers, both physical and virtual, are protected at all times.

Infrastructure Systems Engineer duties include but are not limited to:

• To evaluate new and alternate technologies which are sympathetic to the business goals, and to present to management.
• To liaise within the Infrastructure Team and other internal teams, and external support companies when required.
• Daily monitoring of the backup environment
• Perform any required restores requested by the business to recognised SLA’s
• Fault resolution as a result of backup failures, and software & hardware alerts
• Make all necessary configuration changes
• Ensure all procedures and changes are fully documented
• To be expected to perform all relevant upgrades to maintain supported levels
• Perform annual archive jobs
• Provide audit evidence to both internal and external auditors
• Attend Data Centres when required

What we would like from the Infrastructure Systems Engineer:

• IT qualifications - Extensive knowledge of Microsoft products and ideally a Microsoft Certified Professional.
• Extremely proficient in all types of hardware platforms.
• Proven ability to work to tight timescales and work both individually and as part of a team.

Proven knowledge of the below:

• Veeam Backup & Replication
• HP Tape Autoloader devices
• Backup Strategies
• Appliances
• Network Storage Devices

Experience in the below would be advantageous:

• VMware / Hyper-V platforms
• Arcserve UDP
• SQL DB
• Archive platforms
• Anti-Virus

Additional requirements:

• Must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Must have a valid passport
