Job Advert Role Description
The role of the Ward Manager will play a pivotal part within the Gatehouse.
The Ward Manager will work as an effective member of the team, focusing on the clinical model which is aimed at recovery, improving skills and independence for all patients. The Ward Manager will take a lead role within the ward's multidisciplinary team, which consists of nursing, psychology, psychiatry, occupational therapy and pharmacy.
Duties to include
- Being responsible for complete operational management of the site.
- Day to day oversight of staffing, resources, roster management and workforce planning.
- Provide supervision, professional development and promotion of staff well-being.
- Participates with the “on call” responsibility working within a rotational basis, alongside other senior nurse colleagues.
- Providing a high standard of care to people with mental illness and personality disorder
- Developing therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement
- Following all codes of conduct, standards and legislation, respecting the rights of others and promoting ethical practice
- Contributing to patient assessments, compiling a plan of care alongside the individual, and monitoring patient progress
- At a more senior level, you will also need to lead shifts as well as mentoring and supporting student nurses and other members of the team

About the Site
Our specialised female step-down service at the Gatehouse enables patients to continue their recovery journey, to maintain good mental health, promote social inclusion and skills for a sustainable discharge into community living.
Patients are supported by a highly skilled, experienced and trained team of clinicians and healthcare professionals working with patients in an environment of hope, positive regard and empowerment.
Due to limits on sponsorship allocations, we are not currently in a position to offer sponsorship to new candidates for these roles, this remains under review.
