The Priory Hospital Southampton is part of the Priory group offering inpatient treatment for a wide range of mental health difficulties. The hospital is located in Marchwood on the outskirts of Southampton and comprises of 40 inpatient beds across three wards. We have a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff which include consultant psychiatrists, nurses, specialty doctors, occupational therapists, dietitians, and therapists. The three wards in the hospital offer a range of inpatient mental health services.

 

Sandpiper Ward: 17 bedded adult acute ward

Skylark Ward: 11 bedded specialist eating disorders ward

Starling Ward: 12 bedded adult acute ward

 

Job Advert Location Description

We are seeking to recruit an enthuiastic HCPC registered Counselling/Clinical Psychologist to work as an integral member of the MDT to support in providing evidence based therapy interventions across all 3 wards.

 

The post is for 0.4 FTE over 2 days, though there is some flexibility for the right candidate and this can be agreed with the psychology lead in line with the service needs. Our psychology team consists of a CBT and DBT Therapist who is our Psychological Therapies lead, a 0.6 part-time Counselling Psychologist, a 0.4 part-time CBT Therapist and a 0.5 Assistant Psychologist.

 

As a psychology team we work across all 3 wards. The role will involve offering group therapy, individual assessment, formulation and psychological therapy on the adult eating disorder unit. Group therapy, assessment and formulation and consultation on the adult acute wards, alongside reflective practice and wellbeing support to the staff.

 

Alongside a diverse mix of clinical work, there will also be an opportunity to work with the psychology team to write and develop group therapies programmes, become part of our weekly DBT specialist group consult alongside excellent CPD opportunities depending on your personalised goals moving forward with your career. There is an opportunity to get involved with staff support and wellbeing through running both group clinical supervision and reflective practice across the wards.

 

HCPC registration as a Counselling/Clinical Psychologist is an essential requirement of the role with training in in one or more core modality namely, CBT, DBT, CAT, CFT, ACT. Experience within a secondary care mental health setting both community and / or inpatient with individuals who experience severe and enduring mental health difficulties is also an essential requirement for the role. Your clinical supervision needs connected to your registration, and to support you within the role will be sourced externally and funded through the priory.
