Priory Hospital Hayes Grove is a private 46-bed acute psychiatric hospital for adults, located on the edge of London in Hayes, Kent. 

The hospital provides care and treatment for patients with a wide range of mental health issues both as inpatients and day patients. Hayes Grove specialises in providing care for patients with acute mental health conditions, addiction issues - both drug and alcohol, and also has a specialist Eating Disorders unit and NHS acute service. The hospital is situated close to excellent transport links to central London, Croydon and Bromley areas and parking is available locally. Eating Disorder services – Consultant Psychiatrist Job description.

 A fantastic opportunity to be part of a well established team who provide effective, QED Accredited ED Services. Working collaboratively with the existing consultant, the main purpose of this role is to provide high quality clinical care for patients referred to the 20 bedded  eating  disorder services and work closely with multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients receive a holistic and person-centric care and treatment programme based on the recovery model.

Responsibilities :

  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic environment on the eating disorder unit
  • Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983, as amended 2007).
  •  Managing complex severe and enduring eating disorder patients including complexities around capacity and best interest decisions.  Working with multi-disciplinary and legal teams as required. 
  • Offering leadership to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment for the eating disorder patients
  • Contributing to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contributing to the development of service strategy.
  • Contributing to in-house training programmes within the services and offering supervision to other members of the multi-disciplinary team, particularly junior medical staff.
  • Maintaining CPD and re-validation requirements, as determined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or other relevant statutory bodies.
  • Contributing to the development and evaluation of services in collaboration with director of clinical services and other members of the Senior Management Team
  • To work closely with Medical Director as a member of the Senior Management Team in achieving the hospital’s clinical and strategic aims
  •  To take part in the site on call rota and to offer cover for  satellite sites if reasonably required
  • The consultant agrees to hold and continue registration with the GMC including the relevant Specialist Register.
