Job Advert Role Description
We are currently looking for a qualified social worker to join our small safeguarding and social work team, whereby you will work with both young people and adults service users in our 13 ward hospital. You will be assigned a specific number of wards, whereby you will review and respond to all safeguarding concerns raised. You will also take a lead on one of our CAMHS units offering social work support to the patients, and well as a valuable social care perspective to the MDT. The role is a mix of being office based and meeting with service users and staff in-person.
Key duties will include:
-Receive, record, advise on and oversee actions relating to safeguarding referrals raised by and about patients from assigned wards
-Complete Level 4 safeguarding training to become site Deputy Safeguarding Lead
-Undertake section 42 adult safeguarding enquiries on behalf of the local authority
-Complete external referrals to the local authority, police and other relevant agencies
-Support wards in accurate reporting to relevant bodies, such as the Care Quality Commission and Local Authority
-Attendance at ward rounds for allocated CAMHS wards, CPA reviews and MDT meetings as required. Bring a holistic social work perspective to a varied MDT, promoting anti-oppressive and challenging restrictive practice
-Take a lead on complex discharges, liaising with external services to ensure relevant community support is in place
-To work alongside service users to support discharge in terms of planning, aftercare and community support, and champion views of the service user within professional decision making
-Collaborate and act as main contact between relatives, agencies, and other official organisations
-Act as point of contact for looked-after children, and hospital representative at local authority meetings
-Assist and support colleagues and relatives in understanding and interpreting changes in Priory safeguarding policy and relevant external legislation
-Support with site safeguarding induction for new starters
-Commit to continuing professional development
Role requirements
Essential:
-Qualified social worker, with current registration with Social Work England
-Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and policy, including the Children Act, the Mental Health Act, the Mental Capacity Act, the Care Act
-Experience at, and confidence in, a variety of complex safeguarding concerns including demonstrable knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation
-Interest to work in both CAMHS/adult safeguarding and social work in an inpatient setting
Desirable:
-Experience working as a qualified practitioner within a relevant mental health setting
-Proficiency in Microsoft office
