Are you an enthusiastic individual looking for a new challenge within the care sector? Priory Adult Care is looking for a creative activities co-ordinator to join our team at our service Orchid Lawns in Steppingley.
Orchid Lawns is a care home designed for older people with dementia. The home provides a specialist dementia nursing service, working in partnership with Central Bedfordshire PCT and Local Authorities. Situated in Steppingley, Bedfordshire the home offers a supportive environment with en-suite bedrooms and comfortable lounge areas. Our dedicated team ensure we meet the resident’s individual care and social needs.
The Role
As activities co-ordinator (this is a fixed term contract for up to 9 months) you will look to create, plan and organise an interesting and varied program of daily activities, entertainment and events, promoting the wellbeing of the residents. Duties may include the following:
- Liaise with external companies to organise entertainment
- Listening to the residents though conversation and questionnaires to aid producing a popular program of events/activities/entertainment
- Develop a rapport with local community churches, schools, gyms ect…
- Work alongside care staff, coordinating hairdressing/chiropody visits etc.
- Organise raffles & fund raising events for the residents/home.
About you:
We are looking for a cheerful, outgoing, passionate individual with a creative flair. The ideal person will be organised and have some experience working with in the care sector, therefore being able to understand the needs of residents aiding activity choices. No experience as activaities co-ordinator is required but a positive, enthusiastic attitude is a must.
