Job Advert Role Description

Priory Hospital Barnt Green is set in the beautiful surroundings of Lickey Hills to the south of Birmingham. The hospital provides services for both NHS and private patients for a wide range of mental health conditions.

The service  comprises of 3 wards: a 10-bed adult Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (for adult females), a 13 bed adult acute ward and a 10 bed Private Acute ward.  The service takes a multi-disciplinary approach to delivering personalised treatment programmes to our inpatients as well as offering a Private Outpatient therapy service. 

As the Therapy Services Manager (TSM) you are an essential part of the hospital senior management team. You will lead on developing and delivering the hospital strategy for therapy provision across both the private and NHS services, whilst also providing direct operational leadership to the therapy team. The post holder will split their time 50/50 between management and delivering therapy, for this reason it is essential the postholder is a qualified therapist.

• Manages and coordinates therapy services ensuring the range and level of treatments and activities complies with statutory regulations, meets quality standards and delivers against KPI’s including responding to referrals, customer service and time to first appointment.

• Provides leadership, organisation and co-ordination to ensure effective clinical governance.

• Promotes an effective working relationship across the multidisciplinary teams.

Delivers therapy sessions to either inpatients or outpatients

• Leads and coordinates the therapy services operation through the effective and progressive management of a multi-disciplinary team, who collectively provide inpatient and day care therapy services.

• Responsible for the financial performance of the therapy team and proactively manages budgets against actual performance. Actively updates the Hospital Director with any short comings or potential issues around the financial activity of the team.

• Responsible for business development of the therapy service provision in the hospital including actively promoting the hospitals therapy services, identifying opportunities for growth and ensuring plans are in place for maintaining census throughout the year

• Responsible for ensuring that all colleagues receive clinical supervision in accordance with professional guidelines and carries out management supervision as appropriate.

• As part of the Senior Management team will carry out on-call duties as directed by the Hospital Director.

• Contributes to the development of Priory policies, procedures, processes and initiatives.

• Maintains own professional development and accreditation.

• Management of locums required including booking and management of spend

• Form part of the Senior Management Team on call rota

• You will be expected to provide cover and support to the wider team and site as and when needed
