Set within landscaped gardens, the safe and supportive environment of the Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a comprehensive inpatient specialist mental health service for young people and adults. The service is dedicated to providing innovative, high quality care and treatment for service users with challenging and complex needs, in order to enable their recovery and re-engagement with the community.


Are you looking for a rewarding role helping patients with a variety of complex needs?

We have a vacancy for a full-time Occuaptional Therapist to join our team at Cheadle Royal on our Maple and Pankhurst services in a split role.

This role is split across two services, Maple, an acute mixed ward and Pankhurst, a female PICU. The majority of the hours within the post will be spent on Maple, a 15 bed unit which offers a 24 hours admission service to support local NHS services and PICU wards. The  ethos of this unit is to provide support to individuals in crisis and offer theraputic engagement during inpatient stay. The rest of the hours within the 37.5 hour week will be spent working with Pankhurst, a ten bed unit for female patients with severe mental illness and are in the acute phase.

In each service the successful applicant will work within a multi-discaplinary team to provide a well-rounded, personalised approach to each patients care.

The role is made up of the below responsbilities:  

- Providing assessment and treatment of a designated case load within the frame work of an established rehabilitation programme.

- Applying patient-centred principles to assessment, intervention and evaluation.

- Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy process in line with sound evidence based practice.

- Participation in MDT, CPA, case conferences, referral meetings and nursing handover.

- Ongoing development of skills and knowledge, through participation in CPD and Professional Development Planning.

- Line-management and supervision of a part-time Technical Instructor.


The successful candidate will also be expected to abide by the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for Practice.

For this role the below is required:

Holds a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy together with full RCOT membership and HCPC registration.

Experience gained within a related clinical or therapeutic environment.

Experience managing a caseload of service users with complex needs
