Job Advert Role Description

Cheadle Royal Hospital operates a comprehensive inpatient mental health service for young people aged between 13 and 18 years, comprising open acute, low secure and psychiatric intensive care service. The Young People’s Service is made up of three wards; Meadows, Orchard and Woodlands. These Wards offers care for young people with a range of mental health presentations.

There is a current vacacny for a part time (22.5 hours/3 days) occupational therapist to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying a clinical caseload on Orchard General Acute Unit.  

The ward provides care for up to fifteen young people who present with a range of mental health difficulties and who are presenting with acute needs or risks that cannot be managed in the community.

The aim of the admissions is to provide stablisation and brief, impactful therapeutic support and intervention to allow young people to be safely discharged.

The post holder will be responsible for providing occupational therapy assessment and treatment of a designated case load within the frame work of an established programme; involving the following:

•To ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy process in line with sound evidence based practice.

•To attend and contribute to MDT, CPA, case conferences, referral meetings and nursing handover. To provide reports as required.

•To manage a defined caseload using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and records all interventions.

•To develop skills and knowledge through participation in a Professional Development Planning process to meet the competency framework.
