We use an eclectic model of care and intervention, drawing on a variety of evidence-based approaches.

A full-time vacancy has arisen for a Technical Instructor to work on our specialist Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Our treatment programme aims to address the psychological, occupational and social factors underlying the service users' mental health difficulties, and improve their overall well-being and help them to achieve a reduction in their risks. The service offers a comprehensive programme of therapeutic interventions.

The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, facilitating therapeutic activities and interventions on a group and individual basis, under direction of the Occupational Therapist. They will also assist the Occupational Therapist in the assessment of patients’ functional needs and in the planning of group and individual therapeutic programmes.

It is desirable to display competency in one or more leisure/creative/practical activity and possess the ability to teach practical skills.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal are required, as are good time management skills, and interested applicants must have the confidence and ability to work independently of a qualified Occupational Therapist. Due to limits on sponsorship allocations, we are not currently in a position to offer sponsorship to new candidates for these roles, this remains under review.
