Priory Hospital Mill Garth is looking for a Cook in the Leeds area
Mill Garth Hospital situated in the Meanwood area of Leeds, we are just two miles north of Leeds city centre, which allows for easy access to a vibrant community with useful amenities that our patients can enjoy.
We are a 21-bedded locked rehabilitation and recovery service suitable for men aged 18 years and over. The hospital focuses on active rehabilitation and recovery for those with mental illnesses and personality disorders.
We believe that anyone with a mental health condition should be given the best chance possible to lead a happy and fulfilling life, and our aim is to provide individuals with the confidence and skills to move or return to the community.
We are looking for an experienced cook/chef to provide food for our patents and staff teams. You will use your skills and knowledge to create healthy and nutritious meals throughout the day. You will work alongside our fantastic catering team over 7 days on a rota pattern – see below
Week 1
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday week hours 8.00am until 16.30pm weekends 9.00am until 18.00pm
Week 2
Tuesday and Wednesday 9.30am until 18.00pm, Thursday 8.00am until 16.30pm.
Duties will include;
- Undertaking the planning, preparation and cooking of meals taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
- Taking full shift responsibility for the catering operation (in the absence of the Head Chef).
- Ensuring the cost-effective and efficient control of stock including placing orders for food products and the checking / reconciliation of deliveries. Ensures that wastage is minimal.
- Assisting the Head Chef by researching and creating new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality and compliment healthy eating guidelines.
- Supervising assigned catering staff ensuring their quality of work continues to meet required operational standards including food safety and cleanliness.
To apply for this role you must have the following;
- NVQ level 3 Catering (or equivalent)
- Food Hygiene Level 2
- Experience in a working kitchen
- Good organisations skills
