Mill Garth Hospital is a 21-bedded locked rehabilitation and recovery service suitable for men aged 18 years and over. The hospital focuses on active rehabilitation and recovery for those with mental illnesses and personality disorders.

Job Advert Role Description

Our Registered Mental Health Nurse role involves:

Providing a high standard of care to people with mental illness, personality disorder and learning disability

Developing therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement

Following all codes of conduct, standards and legislation, respecting the rights of others and promoting ethical practice

Contributing to patient assessments, compiling a plan of care alongside the individual, and monitoring patient progress

Accept personal and shared responsibility for the maintenance of quality nursing care, for all patients as part of a multi-disciplinary team approach within a rehabilitation and recovery setting.

To promote and safeguard the wellbeing and interests of all patients, employees and visitors

To ensure that all standards of patient care are maintained at all times within the parameters of operational policies and governing legislation

To promote a supportive culture based on open and honest communication and reflective practice

 

Main duties of the role include:

To accept primary nurse responsibility for an allocated caseload of patients

To accept CPA responsibility for an allocated caseload of patients

To plan and implement nursing care of individual patients paying particular attention to areas of nursing risk management

To ensure nursing practice remains within the parameters of the clinical strategy

To prepare patient reports for upcoming hearings.

To prepare patient reports and attend where necessary ward rounds, CPA's and other meetings.

Supervision of staff.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

A relevant nursing qualification and registration – RMN / RNLD

Excellent team working skills, a high level of self-motivation and a flexible approach - our units operate 24 hours 7 days a week, and our nursing staff work shift patterns including weekends, bank holidays and nights.

A commitment to patient-centred care and to values-based and evidence-based practice

Full time and part time and  flexible working opportunities are available

Salary ranges from £28.333.20 to £33,147.60 dependent upon experience along with regular pay reviews.
