Job Advert Role Description

Based in the historic city of York, Stockton Hall is a highly specialist 112 bedded hospital where patients requiring medium security can maximise the value of therapeutic interventions available.  The patient group consists of men and women with /Mental Illness and/or Personality Disorder and men with mild to moderate Learning Disability / Autistic Spectrum Disorder.  

Our Cook / Chef role involves:

  • Assisting in providing a high standard of catering and hospitality to patients, staff and visitors
  • Supervise junior staff

Main Duties:

  • Prepare and cook meals for patients, staff and Visitors
  • Ensure high standards of food safety
  • To assist when necessary other designations within the department

Shift Pattern: 5 days over 7 days working every other weekend – shift times are 6.30 am – 2.30 pm and 10.15 am – 6.15 pm.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work as part of a team and have a flexible approach are essential
  • Previous experience, preferably within a similar environment
  • Good organisational skills are essential
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Social skills
  • To comply with individual responsibilities under the Health & Safety Act
  • A good knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety

Qualifications:

  • Relevant NVQ Level 1 & 2
