An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and creative Occupational Therapist to join the team at Priory Hospital Cardiff.

Priory Hospital Cardiff is a modern mental health treatment unit. The unit includes a variety of facilities, such as three secure gardens, a gym, a hydrotherapy pool, patient practice kitchens, patient social area, art rooms and dedicated support service areas. 

The service is currently being developed to provide bespoke treatment packages for a variety of patients with complex mental health needs. The unit will provide a modern, homely environment promoting independence, whilst employing an experienced Mutli-Disciplinary Team to oversee and support patient progress.

The role of the Occupational Therapist will be to provide a high quality service that meets the needs of the patient group at Priory Hospital Cardiff. The role will involve delivering a range of innovative interventions that motivate and engage individuals to improve their occupational skills  and mental wellbeing.

There will be opportunities for assessing, intervening and evaluating progress in line with MDT care plans. The post requires someone who is willing to find new and creative ways to work with patients with a range of presenting difficulties.  

Responsibilities will also include being involved in reducing restrictive interventions (including being involved in managing incidents of violence and aggression where required), good clinical note taking, planning skills, good time management and engagement in professional meetings and supervision.

The successful candidate will also receive peer support from the large, established and supportive Occupational Therapy team based at Llanarth Court.

Qualifications required

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and registration with the HCPC.

Experience Required

  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting and/or working with clients with mental health diagnosis or challenging behaviours would be desirable. However, there will be good training and learning opportunities. Supervision will be provided by a qualified clinician.
