An opportunity has arisen for an Advance Nurse Practitioner at the Priory Hospital Middleton St George.

The role provides a great opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to advance his/her career in developing further clinical skills in both mental and physical health as well as prescribing medication, while working with a highly motivated and dynamic team of Consultant Psychiatrists, Advance Nurse Practitioners, and other multidisciplinary team.  There is opportunity and expectation to join a weekly medical meeting/teaching and participate in quality improvement and clinical governance activities. There are also opportunities to enrol in other trainings for further development.

 

The Role of the Advance Nurse Practitioner includes but is not limited to:

  • Assessment of admissions and contribution to care planning
  • Deliver physical health care, conduct relevant investigations and treatments and respond to emergencies
  • Prescribe medication within their competencies
  • On call cover and cross cover of other APs
  • Good record keeping including preparation of reports (discharge summaries, CPA reports, referrals)
  • Daily emergency medical rota, seclusion and enhanced care reviews
  • Prioritise preventative healthcare to improve outcome
  • Participate in quality improvement activities including teaching

 

 

The successful candidate should have the following attributes:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification (RMN) with a Valid NMC PIN
  • Completion of the clinical skills training course would be desirable but not required however the candidate must be willing to work towards the course. 
  • Nurse prescriber, or working toward achieving this
  • Experience in physical health or general nursing would be an advantage
  • To be a team player and responsive to service needs
  • To be self-aware, seeking support and advice when required
  • Good listening and rapport building ability
  • To be able to organize and prioritise own time

 

The post-holder will participate in first on-call medical rota of 1 in 6. There is a consultant on-call for support.
