The service is currently being developed to provide bespoke treatment packages for a variety of patients with complex mental health needs. The unit will provide a modern, homely environment promoting independence, whilst employing an experienced mutli-disciplinary team to oversee and support patient progress.

The role of the Therapy Assistant is to work closely with the Occupational Therapists, and other members of the Therapy Team, to deliver group and one to one occupational, therapeutic and recreational activities and interventions. The post requires someone who is willing to find new and creative ways to work with patients with a range of presenting difficulties. Some work will be on a one to one basis with patients who need individual care, and some work will be supporting patients in groups.

Responsibilities will also include being involved in reducing restrictive interventions (including being involved in managing incidents of violence and aggression where required), good clinical note taking, planning skills, good time management and engagement in department meetings and supervision.

Qualification -  5 GCSEs (or equivalent) or other relevant qualifications such as an NVQ.

Experience - experience of working in a healthcare setting and/or working with patients with mental health diagnosis or challenging behaviours would be desirable. However, there will be training and learning opportunities. Clinical work will be supervised by a qualified clinician.
