Job Advert Role Description

Beverley House is a 24-bedded rehabilitation hospital for women over the age of 18, situated in the heart of the community in Birmingham.

Patients admitted to Beverley House may be informal or detained under the Mental Health Act with a primary diagnosis of mental illness and personality disorder with complex needs.

Our Rehabilitation Hospital  is recruiting for a part time Enablement worker.  

As part of your role, you will be responsible for providing high quality service under the supervision of the Lead Occupational Therapist.  You will support with the delivery of a full ward programme which will include facilitating individual or group activities and managing a case load of patients identified to engage in our enablement program.  You will have the opportunity to work with the OT team and other departments to develop your skills and experience in mental health.  You will also be responsible for recording patients engagement in therapy, participate in planning and implementing of individual or group therapeutic activities.   An excellent opportunity for career development through Priory Career Pathway.  

Role requirements:

Skills & Knowledge:

•           IT literate

•           Excellent customer service skills and caring approach

•           Basic knowledge of the principle of risk assessment

•           Knowledge of current legislation including the MHA

•           Effective written and verbal communication skills

•           Understanding of issues relating to mental health clinical setting.

 

Experience:

•           Experience of working with service users in a mental health setting

•           Experience of departmental working

•           Experience of running therapeutic and activity groups

 

Personal skills

•           Motivated, energetic and flexible

•           Attention to detail and effective organisational skills

•           Excellent observational skills

•           Able to prioritise safety and patient care

•           Able to stay calm and work effectively under pressure/stress

•           Evidence of coping strategies to deal with stress/challenging experiences

•           Able to maintain confidentiality of all colleagues and service users

 

A qualified driver with current valid UK driving license and willing to drive the company vehicle would be an advantage.
