Job Advert Role Description

The Therapy Services at Kemple View aim to provide bespoke and individualised treatment pathways for male patients with complex mental health, recovery needs and risk profiles. Therapy Services include Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and education, in both our Low Secure and Rehabilitation and Recovery settings. Therapy services staff work together as part of identified Multi-Disciplinary Teams with our nursing and medical colleagues, using positive psychology approaches with patients that aim to motivate, engage, develop and practice skills to achieve life goals and promote long term change to progress through the identified care pathways.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join this extensive and innovative team and help lead the further development of our  "outstanding" service. You will help to lead an established team of Occupational Therapists and Technical Instructors, providing day to day management, and supervision. There are extensive on site facilities and a network of growing links with our community partners. Successful applicants will continue to get opportunities to develop their specialist knowledge of occupational therapy as applied with patients with mental illnesses, personality disorder(s), significant physical health impairments and cognitive impairments including learning disability, in both secure and rehab settings.

You would also have the opportunity to work closely with the Psychology and Social Work departments, as part of the wider work of Therapy Services. Focusing on "building a life worth living" within a framework of positive psychology approaches in all aspects, and providing supervision to other staff, the successful applicant will be motivated, enthusiastic and share our passion for the work we do. Our modern extensive facilities include the following: art room, rehabilitation kitchens, group rooms, music room, large sports hall, conditioning suite, computer suite, cafe, shop, extensive grounds, a woodland walk, and horticultural and animal care areas.

Based in the therapy services buidling and working alongside other Occupational Therapists, educators, technical instructors and social activity staff, you will help to manage, develop and drive a wide range of work, including assessing patient’s needs using both standardized, creative and functional assessments, delivering, supervising and managing 1:1 and group based interventions and being a valued and core member of the MDT’s. You will oversee the expansion and development of our OT various treatment pathways; including vocational placements in the local community as well as on site Real Work opportunities. The role will also allow you to develop your own areas of special interest, as applicable to our fascinating and complex patient groups, including forensic, physical and vocational occupational therapy.
