This fantastic opportunity will be based at Hazelwood House our 14 bed well-established service in the Midlands with a pro-active team who works with patients to maximise their opportunity to live as independently as possible in the community, through a robust treatment programme that aims to build and consolidate core skills, promote relapse prevention strategies, and promote safe positive risk-taking.

As a Mental Health Worker, you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team within a Low Secure unit for males with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability, who have co-morbid complex care needs, including those of mental illnesses and autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).To be successful, you will need:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work flexibility
  • Basic Literacy skills
  • Common sense approach to problem-solving.
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Motivation and initiative
  • Some appreciation of Mental Health problems
  • Enthusiastic approach to activities and skill-building 

The shift pattern is as follows.

Days: 07:30 – 19:45hrs

Nights: 19:30 – 07:45hrs

One week is: Monday , Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday

Next week is: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday then repeat

You will do two weeks of Days followed by two weeks of nights.

If you’re looking for nights only we do offer this but only after induction and you will need to do the odd day shift to keep up to date with the daily events.


  • Education to GCSE Standard
  • NVQ or equivalent would be an advantage.
