Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our dynamic and enthusiastic Acute Adult Therapy team. The role involves assisting the Occupational Therapist in providing individual and group work for 14 patients within an inpatient setting. The successful applicant will also assist in undertaking OT assessments, interventions and evaluations for a designated caseload. They will form part of the multi-disciplinary team and will receive bimonthly clinical supervision from the Occupational Therapist. Experience within the mental health sector is essential.


Applicants will be required to:

  • Have good personal organisational skills and a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
  • Co-ordinate and engage patients on the unit in therapeutic and meaningful activities.
  • Develop close working relationships with colleagues
  • Demonstrate resilience to work in a high intensity/risk environment.
  • Provide excellent oral and written communication and possess exceptional organisational skills.
  • Support and assist OT with applying treatment programmes and completing ADL assessments
  • Facilitating group activities and assisting with the planning & organisation of the therapeutic timetable
  • Use therapeutic approaches to encourage patient engagement and motivation
  • Ensure clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards specifically regarding risk assessment.
