Job Advert Location Description

The Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal has been providing inpatient services to NHS patients for a number of years and has a number of subspecialties including Acute inpatient, PICU, CAMHS, EDU, Rehab and PD. We are looking for Specialty Grade Doctors to join our bank on call rota in order to cover on-call shifts 5pm - 9am (16 hrs) weekdays and 9am - 9am (24 hrs) weekends for our inpatients where there are gaps in the on call rota. The Speciality Doctor on call is based on site. They are supported by non-resident Consultant on call who could be contacted during their on call.

Job Advert Role Description

Responsibilities: 

1. Attending to medical and psychiatric emergencies and managing these situations promptly and seeking advice where necessary.

2. To conduct mental health and physical health assessments of newly admitted patients and document  the same in accordance with the template on Care Notes (IT)
 
3. To conduct seclusion reviews in a timely manner for patients being nursed in seclusion.

4. To ensure adequate clinical handover following the on call


5. Arrange appropriate clinical tests and investigations for physical health emergencies and take responsibility for chasing up results and acting on them in a timely manner. 

6. Review physical observation and investigation findings and act upon them in a clinically appropriate manner.

Knowledge and Skills:

This post requires an MB.BS or equivalent, you will also need to be GMC registered and licensed to practice. We would also 
expect you to be in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists for CPD and have an appraisal or RITA in the last 
year. 

Experience:

It is desirable for the applicant to have had previous experience as a Specialty Doctor or good level of experience in handling psychiatric emergencies and physical health emergencies for patients on mental health units.
