Job Advert Role Description

Job Purpose
To manage patients using evidence based and patient centric principals to assess, plan, 
implement and evaluate interventions, which provide patients with the confidence, skills 
and coping strategies required for independent living.


Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates the implementation of individualized treatment plans for occupational therapy services.
  • Ensures effective delivery of treatments, activities, and interventions through clear communication and application.
  • Responds promptly to referrals; conducts assessments to identify and prioritize patient needs.
  • Plans and delivers relevant occupational therapy interventions on an individual or group basis.
  • Maintains accurate and timely clinical records, documenting patient rehabilitation and progress.
  • Provides effective leadership and management to junior staff within the occupational therapy team.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with clinical and professional colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensures all clinical practices comply with Priory policies, statutory regulations, and quality standards.
  • Contributes to business development by actively promoting therapy services in alignment with the local unit’s business plan.
  • Maintains consistent communication with patients, families, carers, and funding bodies throughout the rehabilitation process.
  • Leads on the implementation of new services within the site and shares best practices across other locations.
  • Ensures services are cost-effective and support the strategic goals of the site.


Knowledge / Education / Skills

  • BSc Hons or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and accreditation by the HCPC


Experience
The role holder will require prior exposure to working within an Occupational Therapy 
setting including experience of working within the specialised area i.e. neurorehab


Communication
This role will be focused upon developing and maintaining productive and stable 
relationships with patients through effective communication, coaching and counselling 
techniques and highly developed interpersonal skills. 


Working Environment
The problems faced by patients may present challenging situations, which may increase 
the physical, sensory and emotional demands of the role.


Safeguarding
All Priory colleagues have a responsibility to safeguard the individuals we care for, these 
may be adults and children or individuals connected to the people Priory supports. 
Colleagues must ensure they are aware of the local child and adult safeguarding policies 
and procedures in their service, in addition who to contact within the Local Authority 
Safeguarding Team for further advice. 
All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to 
undertake additional training in associated areas.
